November is proving to be a very busy month for the DSActive programme as we look to launch 6 new sessions, including a magnificent new partnership with a football club.
The fun will start on Wednesday 6th November when we launch our first ever 18+ football session in partnership with QPR in the Community Trust. We have a long running partnership with QPR in the Community Trust who were the second football team to form back in 2010. The addition of an 18+ session adds huge value to the programme and will allow more people with Down’s syndrome to access the high quality coaching provided by the QPR coaches. This session will be 12.00pm – 1.30pm at the Westway Sports Centre, W10 6RP.
The fun with QPR doesn’t stop there – they are also adding a tennis session to their existing 3 football sessions. The session, which will be a 3-way collaboration with DSActive, QPR in the Community Trust and the Tennis Foundation will launch on Friday 8th November, at 6.00pm – 7.00pm. This will also be at the Westway Sports Centre, W10 6RP. For further information or to sign up to the sessions, please contact Conor McBrearty (Disability Projects Manager) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On the same day (Friday 8th November), we are also launching a tennis session in Milton Keynes. This session will be split into two separate sessions on different courts, one session for children with Down’s syndrome aged 5-17, the second for adults with Down’s syndrome aged 18+. The session will take place between 5.30pm and 6.30pm at Woughton Leisure Centre, MK6 5EJ. For further information please contact Tom Wood at email@example.com
Finally, on Saturday 9th November, DSActive welcomes it’s newest football club to the programme as we launch a session in partnership with Chelsea Football Club Foundation. The newly formed Chelsea Community Lions will be running two sessions at the Matthew Arnold Sports Centre, Staines, TW18 1PF. The sessions will be between 12.30pm and 1.30pm and again be split into young people with Down’s syndrome aged 5-17, and a session bespoke for adults with Down’s syndrome aged 18+. For further information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
This is a really exciting (if busy) week for DSActive and we can’t wait to meet everyone who is coming to one of the new sessions! The sessions are open to anyone with Down’s syndrome and will be huge fun so please feel free to spread the word!
